Add PDF attachments
Add Attachments to PDF Online
The Add Attachments to PDF tool lets you embed one or more files inside a PDF document, including images, documents, spreadsheets, and other supporting files. The selected files are stored as embedded attachments in the downloaded PDF; they are not inserted as visible pages.
To view the embedded files, open the downloaded PDF using a compatible PDF reader, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader on a desktop computer, and then open the Attachments panel marked with a paperclip icon. Embedded attachments may not appear in web browser PDF viewers, email previews, or mobile PDF preview applications.
If you want to combine the visible pages of multiple PDF files into a single document, use the Merge PDF tool instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I embed multiple files inside a PDF?
Yes. The tool allows you to embed one or more files inside a PDF document, including images, documents, spreadsheets, and other supporting files. Select all the files you want to attach together from the file selection window.
Will the attached files appear as visible PDF pages?
No. The files are stored as embedded attachments and do not appear as visible pages within the PDF. If you want to combine the pages of multiple PDF files into one document, use the Merge PDF tool instead.
How can I view the attachments inside the PDF?
Download the processed PDF and open it using a compatible PDF reader, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader on a desktop computer. Then open the Attachments panel marked with a paperclip icon. Browser and mobile PDF viewers may not display embedded attachments.
What is the benefit of adding attachments to a PDF?
Embedded attachments keep the main PDF and its supporting files together in one document, making them easier to organize, share, review, and archive. The attachments remain separate from the visible PDF pages and can be opened or extracted using a compatible PDF reader.
Do I need to install software to add PDF attachments?
No. The attachments are added directly through the tool in your browser. However, you may need a compatible program, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, to view the embedded files after downloading the processed PDF.
Can I use this tool with official documents?
You can use it to include supporting files with reports, contracts, and administrative documents. However, confirm that the receiving organization accepts PDFs containing embedded attachments, as some official portals, security systems, and electronic signature platforms may hide or reject them.
Can I email a PDF that contains embedded attachments?
Yes, provided that the final PDF is within the email provider’s file-size limit. Inform the recipient that the PDF contains embedded attachments and should be opened with a compatible PDF reader instead of an email, browser, or mobile preview.
